Overhead crane offers easy lifting and moving in industrial facilities, with improved work efficiency, safety and space savings. It comes in different configurations and specifications to meet varied needs of customers. The main configurations of overhead cranes include single girder, double girder, top running and underhung system, with capacity from 1 ton to several hundred tons. Overhead cranes are commonly used in workshops, warehouses, storage yards, etc.
Overhead Crane Systems And Components
Overhead crane systems can vary widely in size, configuration and complexity depending on the specific application and load capacity. However, there are universal parts for overhead cranes:
Bridge: the basic component of the overhead crane, which is composed of the main beam, the end beam, and the walkways. End beams are connected at both ends of the main beam. Walkways are installed outside the two main beams, and safety railings are provided. Rails are paved above the main beam for trolley movement.
Hoist: a mechanism device that hooks onto the load to raise and lower it. For cranes with a lifting capacity of 15t and above, there are two sets of lifting mechanisms, namely the main hook and the auxiliary hook. The most common type, electric hoist, can use single speed, double speed or variable speed electric motors depending on your requirements. The hoist can also be used independently.
Trolley: the trolley is placed on the bridge rail and moves along the bridge girder. It is made of welded steel plates, and consists of the trolley frame, the trolley moving mechanism and the lifting mechanism on it. Because the trolley driving wheels are close to each other, they are driven by a motor.
Selecting The Right Overhead Crane System For Your Business
Selecting the right crane is critical to ensuring high work efficiency and safety. When buying an overhead crane, you need to consider a few things in order to specify the right one:
- Rated load capacity
- Span of the crane
- Lifting height
- Type of load or material
- Crane working environment
- How often is the crane used?
- How many meters does the crane travel?
- Other special requirements
